I hope you will go back to F 0. Do not forget what Someone promised to us: "If you ask Me anything in My name, I will do it."
wow wow and wow , really gives me and many others hope .
My last fibroscan before I was cured as about 22 .
Since cured my blood test have been much better and my platelets are back at 100 000 and my ultrasound looked great .
I was told that I could go back to a f 2 in time .
I am very happy for you it really is fantastic news
In July 2012 I had cirrhosis (F4 20.6). In 2014, one year after the HCV treatment, the cirrhosis was reversed at F1-F2 (7.7). Few days ago (18 Nov 2015), the fibrosis of my liver was F0 (5.9).
Yes, cirrhosis can be reversed!
Whew! I had misunderstood...thought you were talking about harvoni relapse! I just finshed my own harvoni Tx of 24 weeks...man I hope my damage reverses too! Some symptoms I have attributed to HCV are as bad as ever (such as neuropathy of feet and lack of energy/ feel like crap etc...but maybe that all is side effect of damage that when healed would diminish and go away...I hope! ...we'll see
Dario, just wondering how things go are going since you completed treatment?
well did the liver snap back reverse it cirrhosis? how u doing ?
tx is a medical abbreviation for treatment.
I treated for 6 months and relapsed after EOT. I'm currently starting week 13 of 24 weeks harvoni. My doc tells me that in the real world, the PI's had about a 75% success rate. So far my docs have had no relapses with harvoni, so i'm hopeful it will stay gone this time.
And to Dario- fantastic and good luck.
Are you saying you relapsed AFTER finishing treatment, 6months of contnual showingSVR?? If so, THAT is discouraging! OR are you saying you were on treatment for 6 months during which time you were testing undetectable, and then as soon as treatment ended, the virus became detectable again?
Great news Billy and so encouraging.
Best to you
......Kim
The liver does indeed regenerate after treatment. There is a dramatic difference in my ultrasound and blood work after being undetectable for 6 months, even though I relapsed. More than 2 years later, my imaging and baseline blood work before starting treatment with Harvoni is still drastically improved from my previous treatment naive results. I compared my complete record pre and post treatment with 3x Incivek to the current pre treatment results and it seems that even given a brief respite the liver can regenerate rapidly. Even my spleen is no longer enlarged, but normal. Platelets are in normal range again. 30 years of damage undone in a few months. Amazing.
I know it was couple if months ago you were writing about this. Hope you'll see this and answer cos at St. Marys hospital, Paddington can't seem to get a straight answer to any ?s. I was on a trial of Sofosbuvir,Daclatasvir and Ribavirin, about 7 or 8 pills daily. Been about 14 weeks since it finished and hep c clear. However, I'm sure before the trial I was told it would be one pill daily and that it would help with the cirrhosis. Have they done a sky one and changed me from the trial to some other treatment. Only found out last year had hep c and cirrhosis on same day. Thought stomach swelling was from being hit by a van.
Update on my treatment with sofosbuvir and GS 5816
I am at the halfway stage, 6 weeks out of 12. Nine out of ten liver function tests are within 'normal' range, including my ALT which has dropped from 96 to 34. The only test outside normal range was AST which had dropped from 101 to 44 (below 36 is considered 'normal' by this particular lab. Bear in mind I have G1A, and am a prior null responder with cirrhosis - supposedly the hardest category to treat,.
An ultrasound scan showed no change to the shape of my liver but my spleen has reduced in size. This all seems like good news but until I hear if they can detect any of the virus in my blood I'm not taking anything for granted.
Very few side effects, negligible in fact. Bit of sleep disturbance but not much else.
Thanks you guys. I was shocked when I saw the report. I did not expect good news. This will encourage me to go in for my yearly check ups :)
That's fantastic news I remember a while back when you told me that your cirrhosis may reverse and it has , you give many of us hope .
Take Care
I meant to say that my newest report says "No signs of cirrhosis" where before they said rough echotexture suggest cirrhosis
I wish you the very best. I cleared the HCV over 2 1/2 years ago. It did take time for the echotexture to change from the roughness. My platelets took time to get in to the normal range.
Just like the two people who came back to tell us their level of damage had decreased.
I think it is wonderful news.
Take Care
Thanks for all the encouragement. I don't believe the side effects of the sofosbuvir + GS 5816 combination are too bad, most people seem only get mild or even no adverse symptoms. Light headedness and fatigue, but if you have HCV those are more or less part of daily life anyway!
I very strongly believe that a cirrhotic liver can be improved. As I posted above I'm starting off with an ultrasound of between 17 and 23 kpa, that's quite a broad range but these scans are known to vary depending on things like when you last ate and a host of other factors.
My target is get below 13 or 14 kpa. Let battle commence on Tuesday.....
Hi
Yes for folks like me I have had hep c for probably 36 years. I treated with everything I could but was a null responder.
Meanwhile my liver became progressivly more and more damaged to the point of cirrhosis diagnosed in Jan 2008.
Even if I am cured with Harvoni I hope my liver may improve some over time but I could still decompensate and especially still get liver cancer even thought I hopefully have eridicated the virus. However, I have seen them say that the chance of liver cancer for me would be reduced if I do make SVR but not to that on a person without cirrhosis.
And if I do end up having the need fo rtransplant at least I won't have hep c attacking the new liver.

Such great news!! You go GUY, (sorry for the silly blunder). I'm really happy about you getting in the trial. This is really good news and how are you feeling since you started? Hope all is well and keep us posted. Sunru
Thx Kim that clears a lot of it up for me. Hope u are doing good
