I hope you stay copy. There are some things I like about the new format, but I definitely don't like how the posts are all scrunched up and minimized in the middle, and an awful lot of space has been allocated to glitzy ads all over the place and to the right is a bunch of cr@p that's superfluous. Like "related tags" and "recent activity" and "community members" etc. All that stuff can be moved to the bottom out of the way and more space allocated and prioritized to why we all come here. FOR THE POSTS.
It's a common pitfall for many web designers. Because we can do something, therefore we should do something. Because we have the capability for a zillion whiz bang features, therefore we should emphasize whiz bang features. WRONG! Content is king, don't forget what this site is all about medhelp. If you're confused about what makes a successful website, go to google.com and look at its format. And guess what's the most successful search engine in the history of the internet? Streamlined, stripped down, simple, effective and not bandwidth hogging - with an emphasis on function, not whiz bangery. That's what people want, my $0.02...
I'll adapt only for all the people I have grown to adore here :}
But I seriously doubt I'll be posting as much, will be missing too much in all the extra scrolling, time it's taking to 'upload' the add's so you CAN scroll UP and DOWN.....I'm dizzy!
(that was DIZZY, not DITSY!)

Oh cr@p; I just noticed. My background color is back to white.
(which we *infer* means that white is still the default color.)
Yes..... they listened and made changes. My point is that I've seen a number of changes, some for the bad and some for the good.

"you notice how everybody hates new things and then gets used to them?"
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Several months ago MH made some major formatting changes to the site that created a very negative response and unfortunately some members departed as a result. I was close to being one of them. Fortunately, MH listened to the input from many forum members and corrected these changes, although it took some time.
Yes, I've also noticed these very old threads being bumped and thought the same as you.
When a post gets deleted it bumps the thread to the top of the forum, just as a new post would. This is why one occasionally sees old posts at the top of the forum, and yet no discernible new posts.
The action is caused by a deletion, not an addition.
LOL; you notice how everybody hates new things and then gets used to them?
willy
Thx..OH.. thought it was strange to see this at the top of the board
CM...lol Now 4 years later...there are so many ads we can barely see the posting area...but you are right ..a great forum and good to see you still here..

LOL. Just goes to show you how much brain fog I had back then when treating. To answer your question, NO I have never gotten use to it :)
The admin did make some changes back then that did make it bearable and is why I stayed.
Not sure why I'm still here years later after SVR. I guess I feel an obligation to give back. This forum had a big part on guiding me in the right direction with treatment. I was so close to starting regular TX , but because of this forum waited and got into a Telaprevir study.
It came from somebody posting a very stupid pregnancy question here which I reported.
Obviously medhelp pulled that while leaving this ancient post.
Where did this come from??
Hey copyman..You used to the format yet?? It"s called "ad nauseam"
Awwwwwh, I don't want anyone to leave :(
Everyone has been so much support to me and my husband.
I totally agree with the lay out. It's not user friendly at all... and I'm not going through treatment.
I hope they do change it. I agree Merrybe the yes and no comment portion is not something I would click either.
Copy, you have been especially helpful to me.... don't go :(
we will miss you! Janet :)
Personally I don't think anyone is going to click on the YEs NO as to comment helpfulness.
Maybe they will, but again the time factors AND the nature of the site itself is discussion and answering or thanking those items more needful of addressing.
Besides which, why are we being asked to now rate one another? One remark can be encouraging but not informative or the opposite, Helpful becomes relative to how you define that term based on what you were after and/or what you comprehend on any particular day.
This "helpful" question seems to be a copy of the Epinions/Amazon type sites...appropriate to that usage much more than this type of interpersonal environment.
I can't deal with this format so I'll check in when I finish tx, 16 weeks from Friday.
Best of luck to everyone and thanks for all your help,
wyntre
Oh cr@p, yet another site that I can't read without my glasses. Sorry, I hate this new format.

RGlass: I guess I will go watch TV now.
--------------------------------------------------------
In case you haven't been following, the d*mn writers are all on strike and all we're left with is mostly C*rap. Sure glad I don't have to deal with the changes with riba-colored glasses.
I posted this on another thread but I wanted to make sure that you got it (not that it really matters)
It seems like yesterday, M.H. asked our opinions on the change. It was almost unanimous, we like it they it is and not to change it. I have no idea why they wasted our time posting that thread since it is apparent that they were going to do what they want to do regardless of how we felt about it. Simple daily routines are hard enough on tx and adapting to change is almost impossible. After spending all day feeling like I am the only person in the world that knows what it really feels like to go through this, I look forward to coming home and reading this forum. It was like my place of refuge. I guess I will go watch TV now. Thanks, Med Help.
wow someone is actually reading these??
OK, then I'd like to suhhest the whole right column go bye bye,
the links are redundant to all but a few non search/tag savvy types
the names and who is online are as well because A. you can see all that from the main thread page. and B. seeing who all the community members are serves few, maybe slide it to the right column is you must keep it....it's way too "my space" for we info geeks.
Personally, I think the wider page appeals to everyone because we can speed read and skim easier, and get the info we need in half the time, which when there's limited time and lots to absorb, and one is fighting illness/exaustion is the most helpful feature.
We do appreciate those keeping this site going....evn if we do seem a little beechy from time to time.
thanks for your efforts.

Agree with the other guys - it feels cramped and messy to me. It messes with my eyes and I'm 11 months post treatment and not even suffering brain fog, I don't know how those poor guys can handle it!
Of course, I'm not leaving over it but the other forum was a much better - easier on the eyes design.
I understand the need for $$$ and wouldn't mind having the commercials on it if we could go back to the old one. All the stuff on the right hand side "recent activity" and such is a waste of good space.
So bright, cluttered, impossible to read..., my eyes can't even finish reading a single thread without sharp pain and tears.
Med Help, please help us to get to your yesterday's format.
Otherwise, I don't think I'll subject my eyes and "foggy" brains to this torture!
But thank you very much for your continuous effort to improve!
Hi,
First off, we'd like to thank all of you that have provided feedback regarding the new look and feel at MedHelp. Your feedback is extremely valuable to us and we take it seriously.
We received feedback mainly in regards to two areas: 1)The new look is harder to read, in particular when on the site for an extended period of time and 2) The new look is too cluttered
In response to this, we've already made a few changes and we're working hard to build several others. Here is what we are doing:
Harder to Read:
* We will be adding a background color to the discussions to reduce the glare while reading
* We will add a new setting so that you can chose the size of the text in the discussions.
* We will be increasing the size of the discussion title.
* We will be changing the date format back to the old format, but keeping the time stamp.
Too Cluttered:
* We have already reduced the size of the right hand column if you are logged in.
* We have already changed the forum so that replies are listed by default, just like the old design.
* We have changed the order of replies so that the newer replies are now on top.
* We will be expanding the "preview text" in the forum so that it stretches more.
Regarding to the new right hand column, over the coming weeks and months we will be rolling out a lot of new features that will leverage this column. This way we won't need to keep modifying the forum panel every time we want to roll out new functionality. Please bear with us as we believe you will see the value as we start rolling out more features.
We hope these changes will address all of the key issues that have been raised. Our members are what make MedHelp the best health community on the web and your feedback is what allows us to become even better. Keep it coming and thank you.

I too think it stinks. What a dreadful format! Mike
