Did I get infected

Posted by Diederick on August 12, 1999 at 10:41:32
Recently I met a woman I fell madly in love with. Just a few days ago she told me that she had a hepatitis C diagnosis, but that the hospital was still running some tests (bloodtests for instance). Of course I had sexual intercourse with her and we also tonguekiss a lot (as you can imagine). I also had sex with her while she had her period and I probably licked her blood in some stages. Now my question is: how easily can I get infected in this way. I have read that it is still not clear if hepatitis is sexual transmittable. Some articles suggest to use condoms, others don't. Do you also need to use protection when you lick genitals, or during mouthcontact or other ways of sexual contact (anal etc.).

I've been married for 30 years and my husband has never contacted (HCV)
Hepatitis-C from me. There was a study conducted in Japan that said HCV
can be transmitted through sexual intercourse but it has never been proven in Europe or the United States. Hope this info helps.

Hep C is blood born.  Although there have been reports of people contracting it through semen, saliva, etc. it is very rare, if true at all.  However, if I were you, I would limit my amorous adventures with an infected person to frolics that do not involve any blood.

Dear Diederick:
First I regret the delay in answering the MedHelp questions in the last month but the delay was due to factors outside my control. I appreciate questions about transmission and sexual transmission because I know these are issues on people
