How can you get a genotype with a Undetected lab?

My Doctor ordered a Genotype test done on me but my PCR came back
Nondetected? How can they get a genotype this way?
I guess I just assumed if you were undetected that you couldn't
get your genotype because there wasn't enough virus to get a
result. Thank you for you time.

PS: My genotype is 1a (found this out today) Doctor is having
me continue 6 more months on the combo drug
