Bumps in pubic region?

A few days ago I got 5 bumps on my labia majora. Three on the left and two on the right. They were all skin colored and  I was able to pop three then pull out an ingrown hair. Now there are two left on the left side and I tried the same thing. It seemed to help until they didn't go away like the other ones. They don't hurt unless I try to pop them or press really hard. They looked like ingrown hairs or pimples that were skin colored with a small indent in the middle at first and I picked at the skin so much that they are now just red bumps. They just kinda feel hot and sensitive if I poke at them. Does this sound like herpes? Or just infected/inflammed ingrown hairs?
