Genital Warts

by Spenk, Mar 24, 2009 06:10PM
Hi.

a few month ago my girlfriend noticed she had little spots on her vigina (vagina), they gradually turned into warts.

i noticed i had a wart on my hand which i think i may have passed on to her during fooling around in the bedroom.

a few weeks later i got a wart also.

now i have a bunch of them under my foreskin. I'm very shy about this sort of thing and suffer from panic and anxiety which is stopping me going to see a doctor.
I was just wondering is there any over the counter treatment which would help get rid of these warts for me and my girlfriend?
Thanks for any advice.

Your gf has to go see a GYN doctor.  These warts are HPV which can lead to cancer in women.  You won't have to worry about the cancer risk as much as the stigma that goes along with having a wart.  The wart on your hand is a completely different strain of HPV and not related.  You won't have too many problems if you are sexual with your gf only because you both have the same strain of the virus, however, if you are sexual with another person you may acquire a different strain.  The over the counter treatments for warts are not for this strain of HPV and will not work!! (These meds are for the kind of HPV strain you get on your hands for instance).  They will irritate the area and make it worse.  Your doctor can prescribe a specific antiviral med for this kind of HPV or they can do in-office treatments.  Often they go away on their own after the virus runs its course.  It takes a couple of months or maybe even a year or two.  When your gf goes to her doctor, she should tell the doctor about your condition as well and they may be able to treat both of you without you having to come in.
