Info About Herpes

by quicksand9999, Jul 05, 2009 10:39PM
I have tested positive for herpes type 1.  this has been the case for years now.  my girlfriend has received a positive test for herpes 1 but she had an outbreak in the genital region.  for me, i've never had any type of outbreak.

i am wondering if it's possible for me to get the type 1 herpes on the genital region from her since i already have type 1 herpes.  i have heard that once you have type 1 (or type 2) that you have built up immunity to the virus and you can't get it again.  any help/thoughts/advice is greatly appreciated.

thanks.

Good news! My situation is the same - I have genital HSV1, and my partner has oral HSV1. You both have significant protection against getting it in the area you don't have it. There still is a very small risk, so you may just want to avoid sex during an outbreak.
