Is this herpes?

I started having sex with a new GF about 2 months ago.  She had informed me she had HSV-1, but we had protected and unprotected intercourse and oral sex.  She shaves her pubic region, and I trim mine with a trimmer.  Our sex was much more aggressive than what I was used to, and she even rubbed my pubic area raw a couple of times when she was on top.  About 1 week ago, we both broke out with 25-30 red pimple-looking bumps in our pubic hair region, not on our genitals.  I think it's folliculitis, or an infection of ingrown hairs that spreads, because this just doesn't seem like what a herpes outbreak would do.  Does anyone have thoughts?

Indeed it could very easily be folliculitis. It does not sound like herpes considering you both have pimples, and they are in your pubic hair.  Are you sure to thoroughly clean/disinfect your trimmer? And with a razor, toss it frequently.

That being said, it's always best to be seen when you have symptoms if you are concerned. An exam trumps a web forum :-)  Have you been tested to know your own herpes status, and has your GF been tested to know her HSV2 status?
