unknown lesion

I have recently been diagnosed with Herpes. After two separate breakouts I began taking acyclovir 2x per day. But 8 weeks again a lesion appeared right near my anus. It caused no pain only occasional itching. I had it smeared and tested for herpes and the lesion came back negative. I do not know what it is nor what to do. The size nor appearance has not changed. I am thinking of return to my Women's Health center for a second opinion. Any idea on what it could be? I did question my provider, wondering if a herpes test could come back negative. She said no and my online search supported her by saying that herpes lesion do not last this long.

I found this similar posting which sort of describes my current lesion.
"In the beginning of July I thought i had an ingrown hair in my pubic hair by my groin area.  After two weeks of it not healing I started thinking I  might have gotten herpes so I went to the doctors.  i had been with a new partner a week earlier and was with my ex about 6 or 7 weeks prior.  The doctor said it could be a herpes sore. She did a culture but it showed no cells, so that was useless.  She also did a HSV I/II IgM and IgG test.  I tested positive for the IgM (2.55 H) but negative for the IgG (<.90) .  She said this means i just got infected recently.  I told the new person I was with and he got tested (His doctor said mine is crazy and she doesn't know what she is talking about, because it usually comes out in clusters and not in the groin area).  He just got his results and said his results were negative.  I also told my ex who also got tested or so he says.  He refuses to go get his results.  He says he doesn't want to know.  

Where did I get this from and when??????  My doctor said it was probably from the recent partner but he's negative.  She also said the test is inaccurate and gives a lot of false positives.  Is this true?????  

I also still have the "sore".  it's been almost two months since I first noticed it.  It won't heal.  It looks like it is healing it forms a scab and then it will start to bleed again then scab then bleed.  It does look like a little ulceration in the middle that starts to heal but never does.  Why won't it go away?  Might it not be herpes? Could it have been a false positive?  My doctor says she thinks it is herpes because of the lesion and the test results.  i am going to the gynecologist and dermatologist next week.  Is there anything you can tell me before then.  i am so worried. All I do it think about this and cry.  I don't know what to think."

How were you originally tested for herpes?  Was just the visual diagnosis all you've had so far and the negative lesion culture or did you have other testing done?
