MRI Results - 8mm Liver Cyst

Long story short, I've had bad pain in my lower left quadrant for 2 months now.  Been passed through multiple doctors, every test imaginable. CT Scan showed a 4mm liver cyst and was ordered to have an MRI to make sure. MRI results came back as an 8mm simple liver cyst and now I have to do a repeat CT scan in 6 months. The nurse made it sound like I have to go every 6 months for the long haul.

Is this normal? To have to continually be subjected to all of that radiation in 6 month intervals? I'm so frustrated and upset. I feel like they told me "its ok now...BUT it might not be come 6 months.." and I have to repeatedly live my life like that - in fear.  Could anyone shed some light on this?  I'm a total wreck :( Besides this ordeal, this has nothing to do with my pain (or so I was told) so I'm nowhere near an answer for that either.

I am surprised that they have you doing a repeat ct in 6 months for a simple liver cyst.  Those are very common and are usually of no concern.  I have focal nodular hyperplasia and have to have scans at 3 months, 6 months and 1 year...then if there is no change they are going to leave it alone.  I also have a simple liver cyst that they are not concerned about.  I know several people who have those and the physician has not made them get multiple repeat scans.  I would seek another opinion before getting more ct scans.  Good luck and don't worry, k?  Everything will be fine.
