bilirubin in urine and high licer enzymes

went to the dr a few weeks ago about some pain in my abdoman(right below my ribs)and was telling the dr about having golden urine even after cutting out soft drinks and that lead to blood test then found out about the liver enzymes,they took another blood test for hepatitis and it came back negative so there answer was wait 6 months and test liver enzymes again.is this somethign i should rerally wait 6 more months to find out whats wrong with my liver or see a specialist?thanks for any help

It depends in part on how you feel and how elevated your numbers are. Your history might also be important - for instance whether you drink a lot of alcohol. Viral hepatitis has apparently been ruled out and that is usually the place to start with elevated liver enzymes.Perhaps the doctor thinks he/she knows the underlying cause. Maybe you are overweight and he is considering a fatty liver. There are many possibilities to consider. You really haven't given enough information.

By the way, I am not in the medical profession. I am merely a patient who has had liver disease and learned a little here and there.

When I have been worried I have always seen a specialist as soon as possible. I do not like to wait for a diagnosis.
