Two years back I had jaundice but all tests on hepatitis proved negative. Doc advised two months rest and dieting. After that my bilrubin and SGPT & SGOT level came down to normal. Every three months I have been checking bilrubin, sgpt & sgot and they were within the normal limit. Now two days back I had fever connected with local climatic conditions and the tests showed SGPT at 214 and SGOT at 194 and bilrubin at 1. I used to take one and half pegs(90ml.) of brandy / whiskey twice in a week. My Cholestrol is at 190, blood sugar, blood pressure, etc. are normal only. What could be the reason for elevated levels of SGPT & SGOT ? Is it because of alcohol or some gastro disorders. I am not taking any medicines at present.
