Hi I have cirrosis and hep c am waiting to get on the list very close now the swelling in my ankles went down for a long time I take spironlactose lately my ankles started swelling again not as bad as before but swelling my doc uped the med from 100 mg per day to 150 per day this was two days ago it looked like my ankle went down the first day but today is still swolen my meld is 18 they don't transplant until 20's I'm not sure what to expect because of the swelling is it normal for that to happen periodically or does it mean something is happening for the worse other than that I'm doin o.k. my meld was just checked can you let me know about this is there anything I can do other than take my meds and I am on a low sodium diet 2000 mgs a day please let me know I'm concerned

unfortunately what you describe is typical.  Limiting the dietary sodium as much as possible is essential.  the combination of spironolactone and lasix works better than either medication when used alone.
