tests to get on liver transplant list

by GrandmaBRZ, Jun 05, 2009 06:27PM
I have  been cured of hcv however a recent mri showed 3 small lesions on my liver. I also have compensated cirrhosis.   My MD wants to put me on the transplant list and in order to do this I will go through 1 -1/2 days of testing.  They said they cannot do a biopsy because of the small lesions.  Please tell me what the tests involve and if there is pain associated with any of the tests  Will I be able to drive after the tests are done.  Thank you for your help.  Jen

usually a biopsy is not necessary as if these are HCC arising in a cirrhotic liver they are usually typical in appearance.  unfortunately it sounds like you will need a transplant but should do well afterwards because the HCV is gone.
