Vanishing Twin? Still pregnant? Misdiagnosed miscarriage?

Please Help?

My Story:

I realised I was pregnant very early on as I felt the same with my
first pregnancy (I have a 21/2 year old).

At 5 weeks I experienced light bleeding..no cramps or clots passed
like a light period for 6 day or so and developed into spotting that continued.

At just under 6 weeks I went for a scan and he found 2 sacs, 1 empty and appeared
to be full of blood and quite large (he reckoned this was where the bleeding was from)
and the second sac continued 'something' no fetal pole yet and no heartbeat yet (which he
said was not unusual as very early but was or may not be viable).

I then went for a blood test and all was how it should be at 6 weeks.

I continued to spot for 2 weeks and experience heavy bleeding - 8 weeks - for a half day
(no clots or tissue passed no cramps) and went back to spotting again for another
week.

At 9 weeks I developed cramps and started to bleed heavier and passed a number of large
and small clots for a day or so... this then developed into light bleeding and has now two weeks
later returned to spotting.

I was diagnosed with a classic miscarriage - no scan or blood tests - and i did not question this as
the bleeding seemed so heavy etc that i just presumed it was a miscarriage.

For the last two weeks since my so called 'miscarriage' I have been experiencing much stronger
pregnancy symptoms than before.. lots of weird nausea  and feel very pregnant same as with
first baby.

I haven't gone for a blood test as maybe it is just wishful thinking on my part and not letting go... so I'm
a bit reluctant to play into my own fantasies..

My Question: could i have just miscarried the secong empty sac? and still be pregnant?
I would be 12 weeks next week id still pregnant... was this a misdiagnosed miscarriage?

Please can you offer advice or similar experiences?
