Good news...I guess

I talked with the clinical nurse coordinator at my MS center yesterday.  Labs were all within normal range.  Sodium was fine, so I get to stay on the Tegretol for the Trigeminal Neuralgia.  I had my third MRI a couple of weeks ago.  The neurologist has not read it yet, but the Neuroradiologist said "no additional lesions from the exam 6 months ago" according to the nurse.

There has been one relapse during that time (Optic Neuritis,) decreased right side strength and increased spasticity.  The doc increased the Baclofen.  Still on the Copaxone and Tegretol.  Keeping my fingers crossed.

Good news you guess?!!!!!!!????!!!!

This is fantastic news!  No new lesions, your TN is under control with your Tegretol, your sodium level is WNL -- I'm just so happy to hear the good news!

I trust that you all who experience "MS" that one moment you're doing fine on whatever you're on, and the next moment it can come tumbling down.

I pray that this route your body is going through, continues on its path of no progression.  I realize that may be unrealistic, but I can only hope!

Just great Bob!

I am glad they followed up with you.

As a newbie, limbolander, I wanted to let you know that this gives me hope that if SOMEday they dx me that I'll be able to be medicated to stop growth regardless of my sx.

I also understand from this perspective that it's very frustrating to have sx and no lesions. My symptoms are troublesome, yes, but my largest concern is the chronic sx are an indication of damage I am not treated for... and more damage is ocurring.

This gives me hope. Thank you.

The doctor had the nurse call me today to "make sure I stayed on your medications.  Just because you don't have new lesions, you did had a relapse, with strength, balance and spasticity issues. If you have any problems or need refill, call."

The bad news in this is that my doctor is moving on to his inpatient rotation for his fellowship.  I'm not sure who I'll be seeing in Sept.

Good news on no new lesions Bob. The Copaxone hopefully is starting to kick in and do its job. I'll keep my fingers crossed for you, too!

Of course, if you were going to my doctor at our MS Center that we both go too, he'd be telling you that since you have no lesions, then it's time to go off the Copaxone. Can I have your neuro please?  :-)

I was thinking today, would I rather have sx and no new lesions or new lesions but have sx?  Of course I would rather have sx and no new lesions, so yes, this is good news.

Sounds like you are in good hands. Hang in there.

Bob- glad you don't have new lesions showing. I agree with Lulu about the symptoms vs lesions. All in all no change sounds positive. Encouraging to others who may wonder if the meds will help slow the progress.

all in all, that's a good report, Bob.  no change on the MRI perhaps means that your DMD is working as it is supposed to.

It's a puzzle how we can be progressing with symptoms but be unchanged on the MRI - probably it proves our thoughts that the disease is still running amok but we can't see it with the current technology.  What dose are you at with the baclofen?  If you're like me, it s ucks to keep throwing down more drugs without seeing miraculous results.

best, Lu
