Not sure if they are related

For about the last 6 weeks or so I have had two new things happening. Not sure if they are related or if I should even mention them to my Neuro when I see him next month.

The first is daily hiccups. They aren't really bad like normal hiccups and only have about 4 - 6 of them at a time. Then nothing again for several hours then they come back.

The second one is kind of hard to explain. It is a fluttering of muscles on the right side of my stomach just below the rib cage. Talk about butterflies in the stomach. LOL. It almost seems like it is my diaphragm that is fluttering and can be triggered by a cough or those hiccups. Again it only last for a short while but is happening every day.
What do you guys think?

Dennis

Me, I don't hang anything up - it's just too darn hot.  And my dog would manage to pull them off the line - great fun for the dog, not so fun for me!

I think that the heat will probably kill whatever you had growing on them, anyway - if not the heat, then the ultraviolet.

Thanks for the comments.

I still have both my gall bladder and appendix and also have not changed my eating, other then taking smaller bites per the Speech Therapist that did my swallow test. At times I do feel a little bite gay when I am cutting up my food into those very small bites, but it seems like it is working.

I do think that this might be a MS thing and really doesn't bother me much if at all. There is absolutely no pian with either of these things. That is why I wasn't sure if I should mention it or not as I have a lot of other things that bother me a lot more.

The only thing my Neuro mentioned about my spine MRI was a 50% narrowing of my spinal cord in my neck ( can't remember where exactly it was ). I kind of think the narrowing is really a back hole type of thing they mention in talking about the brain going on there. That also kind of explains why both of my feet and right leg are alway numb.

Now for the clothes. I'm not sure why everyone that has made comments have talked about whites and/or underwear. It happens to be correct for the most part, but doesn't anybody hang up colored clothes? They did finally dry today and I got them in at about 7PM with no sign of mold or any other cr ap on them.  I think they may have been drying out completely between the rains but before I could bring them in. Except when it has been raining the outside heat index had been running at around 105 which I can't handle for more then a few seconds which was not long enough to bring in clothes. I still have several loads of washing to do but hopefully the forecast will be correct this time so I can do them on Wednesday and Thursday.

Yup, I have a couple of lesions in the brainstem.

My gall bladder gave me pain high on the right side of my stomach, just below the ribs.

Dennis, I didn't say that clearly  - the gall bladder/appendix question has to do with the location of your twitching on the right side.   You could be feeling action from either one of those bad boys, though usually they would present with pain. - L

I think the twitching in the diaphragm/hiccups is from lesions in the brain stem. The myokemia (a certain type of muscle twitch) feels like a vibration or flutter or quiver.

Does that sound right Jens with relation to your lesions?

Hiccups are essentially a twitch of the diaphragm muscle.  I don't remember what part of the CNS it's connected to.  The fluttering of muscles - sounds like it could be connected to the diaphragm, or more likely they're connected the same muscle that controls the diaphragm.  Do you have lesions in your spine?

I get a regular tension-release thing in my abdomen - feels like my stomach is doing crunches without my active participation.  I also get that weird fluttery thing, as well as hiccups.  No fun.

I'm thinking that since hiccups are spasms of the diaphragm, this symptom may be related to your other diaphragm issues, fluttering, and so on.

This possibly is from MS, so I would definitely mention it if it keeps up for any substantial time.

Dennis,
here is my totally uneducated guess - do you have a change of routine in your meals or what you are eating every day?  Believe it or not, if I eat rice too fast, I get the hiccups.  And I love rice.  That is the only food that sets them off.

I don't remember - do you have your gall bladder still?  How about your appendix?    If this keeps up, you definitely need to mention it to the doctor the next time you are there.

best, L

PS - you may need to launder the whities again, hanging onthe line through that many days of rain could make them contaminated with all sorts of pollens and other airborne cr ap.
