Thank you so much, I called and I am waiting for a call back. My mom came for a visit and brought me some lunch so I got something to eat and I am going to rest till they call. Thank you for all the support. It is nice to know that people care.

I agree, go to your neuro, and don' t let them put you off.  Best advice ever.

I had the same thing, and got shrugged off.......... don't let that happen.

Good luck, and may the sun shine again on your day,

take care,

I think you need to go get the blood patch.  You will have INSTANT relief.....  Do not wait....

The LP headache happens to a lot of people.  You probably feel real hot as well like you have the flu.

I would call your doc and get to the hospital to have the blood patch ASAP.

Thanyo u for respnding, I am going to call the doctor, I feel better when I lay down, when I get up I feel dizzy, my head hurts, and sometimes I throw up. I am going to call and see what they say. Thank you everyone for helping. I had to take the day off work because of this.  Is it possible I have an infection?

I had a headache from my first LP.  It started on the third day out and didn't stop for at least a week.

Your headache is even further out---I would call your PCP again and lay flat for a while if you can.

Darn, I'm sorry you are dealing with this.

Mine came days later too. If it's a leak, it will subside when you lay down.  The inbalance from a leak of CSF is what causes the headache.  It feels bone crushing and like your head is going to explode.

Get the phone, lay flat and call!

You can get a blood patch, or just lay flat for 24 hours. Doc may give you these 2 options. I hope you are home!

Jen,
Alex and Jmac3X are absolutely right- call your doctor and tell them what is going on.  Do you get relief when you lay down?  That would be a good clue as to whether this is related to the LP.

Unfortunately about 1 in 7 people have a problem with the headache after the LP.  I'm sorry it sounds like you are one of those.

feel better, Lulu

I agree that you should call your neuro.  My symptoms started the same way -- I felt ok right after the LP and probably overdid it (nobody told me to take it easy!).  It started as a dull headache that worsened until I could not hold my head up at all.  I think I waited too long and finally crawled into the ER for the blood patch.

Stay flat in bed as much as you can until you know for sure what's going on.  It's hard to do, but if it fends off the headache will be worth it.

Good luck, so sorry you are dealing with this. . . .

Call your Doctor right a way and do not let them shrug you off. There is no point in being in pain. My Neurosurgeon was a real jerk and would do nothing. Sometimes they do a blood patch for the headache.

My PCP gave me oxycodin when the Surgeon would do nothing and only had to take two all together to break the cycle of pain. I could not stand full upright for two weeks but it got better a little each day. I was painting a ten foot painting for an art show. I would paint 15 minutes feel sick and go back to my recliner with my head back for an hour or more.

Good luck.
