OT: can I brag about my family?

Today is my birthday and I was not expecting much. With me taking my classes, money is tight, so I told my husband no gifts. He always gives me a full Birthday Weekend, and that was all I was wanting anyway...a couple days to relax with no cooking or cleaning.

My Dad & husband work at the same company. My mom emails me this morning & says my dad has a birthday gift for me, so to email Dennis (hubby) and have him move it into his car on his lunch. That was an unexpected surprise!

Well, after dinner I open the gift from my parents. They bought me a really nice bar stool, with a back to it and a swiveling seat. Considering we don't have a "bar" most people would wonder why they bought that. But, I knew exactly why! I love to bake, and I'm also trying to get a little dessert side business going. But, sometimes it is tough, especially if the kitchen starts to get warm. So, they bought me the stool so I can sit comfortably while I work, and I can still enjoy my hobby!

Now, the super funny thing is: Dennis also bought me a bar stool as a gift LOL The one he bought is a bit prettier, but even he admitted that the one my parents bought is probably going to be more comfortable and it's a bit more stable. So now I will have some credit to spend at Bed, Bath, and Beyond. I wonder if I will have enough credit to buy some Beyond? LOL

I just love it when family ignores a request not to buy gifts for a special occasion.  LOL  

All kidding aside, it is great to have people recognize that sometimes we need extra help in coping with our limitations.  My wife bought me a specialized kitchen chair a few years ago so I could continue to cook.  It also allows me to cook along with her when I am not feeling to well.

Happy belated birthday Jess, sounds like you had a wonderful day and that you have a great family.  You will find the bar stool will make a huge difference and that you'll conserve a lot of stamina that you can instead put into baking a few extra batches of cupcakes.  ; )

ps: you share a birthday with my husband, so I'll be eating leftover cake today too.

Hey, Happy Birthday Jess.  What a loving thing for both your dad and hubby to give you as a gift, but the same thing? WHat are the odds of that.  

I'm sure you will find just as lovely gift at BB&B with the credit on your hubby's gift.

Happy Birthday!   A kitchen stool is a wonderful gift to allow you to spend more time at your favorite hobby!  You may need both in different parts of the kitchen.

At our house we laugh all the time at my propensity to juxtapose words and syllables.  Consequently we refer to that store as Bad Breath and Beyond.
