Oh the itching!!!

OMG I thought these Copaxone injections were no big deal. Now my sites are itching like crazy! Today my arms are driving me crazy and I did those injections last Thurs & Fri.

Shared Solutions told me to call my doctor for a topical cream suggestion. I'm waiting for a call back but the nurse said I may have to switch medications. After ALL I have been through with the insurance nightmare and applying to NORD to get the Copaxone.

I've already tried store brand itch cream, Gold Bond Lotion, a Benadryl pill but nothing works for more than maybe an hour. Then the itchy feeling comes back and hoo boy when I can't resist the urge and scratch it, it hurts like a you-know-what!! I'm trying now to really take my time with the shots and use the cold and heat packs. Maybe I was rushing myself before and that caused the irritation??

I'm totally miserable. PLEASE give me your suggestions....I don't want to have to switch meds. I've been through so much already and I just wish this wasn't happening.

Thanks everyone! I started on Xyzal yesterday. It's an allergy pill...we'll see if it helps.

I did end up changing to avonex because the welts and pain and itching were too much to deal with, however, my neuro did tell me in the beginning to go to self inject (instead of auto) and premed with benadryl. maybe you could ask your neuro. It did help me a little for a while. Good Luck...:)

Don't give up on the copax yet - but we have quite a few people here that experience this itching as well.  Fortunately, my Copaxone doesn't bother me .I'm sure someone here will come through and give you some other tips.

And yes, there are a few people here who had to give up on the copaxone because of the itching.

Good luck with getting it under control.

be well,
Lulu
