Power in our 'group' advocating for ourselves!

A couple of days ago my new neurologist who ordered new MRI's.  I requested a bore 3 Tesla.  She said they had an open 1.5 and that it would be fine.

Today I sat down to make the call and set up the time.  Then I decided that I was going to fight for the 3Tesla Bore machine MRI that I feel I need.  I am fortunate to live 5 miles from the only 3T in the state.

Long story short.  I changed the order and have the appointment with the 3T Bore machine.  The whole time I was making all the phone calls etc. I was thinking about all of you and what your responses would be.  I was thinking about a thread I read last night that Addi had started and thought----I can do this too.  It felt scary taking over the control but I did it.

I know it sounds corny----but having all of you behind me meant everything today.

Thank you!!!

Red, you make me prouder than I can imagine!!  Yes, this is something we have fought to make a part of this forum.  Not only do we want to teach people about what is happening to them, but we hope that they will be able to take the information and advocate for themselves.  GOOD FOR YOU!!!

Each time you speak up for yourself you will feel stronger.  Way to Go!

You said it right, "the power of a group" can really work miracles.  I think many of us are where we are right now because of the support of this group.  You won't find another one like it anywhere in the world, at least for MSers and maybe MSers.

Continue being the strong person that you are, inside and out.

Knowledge is power and this is one of the most powerful places to learn from on the internet when it comes to MS.

Taking control of our medical treatment is a huge, and often daunting task.  I know because I had to do that by leaving my GP of 14 years  and it ended up with me getting a dx of MS from a new doctor.

I am so proud of you for taking this next step.  Keep up the good work, Lulu

Lois-

I completely understand what you are feeling and saying here.  It is exactly what I have felt and have accomplished because of it!

I am so very proud of you for asserting yourself for your health!  And, I also thank this wonderful forum for giving me the tools and confidence I also needed to get on the right track.

By the way, I went to my first session with a NEW counselor today and I really like him.  I did end up reporting the other one to my insurance.  But anyway, he was so very impressed by my medical book!  He said it was extremely organized and thorough.  So see?

Hugs to you, gf, and hopes and prayers for answers with your new MRI!
