7 spinal taps .. hit nerve?

My one month old daughter had 7 spinal taps in a total of 2 days. Every time they didnt pull out fluid just blood. She acts totally different then before the taps. She cries non stop now. Its not a hungry cry but a hurt cry. We think maybe they hit a nerve in the process of the taps. When we go to pick her up she will scream or if she sits to long she cries in pain. We r taking her to a neurologist Thursday for her bells palsy but definitely want to bring this up to him. Do u think she is having back pain from the spinal taps? How can we solve this solution and make her better?

Thanks for using the forum. I am happy to address your questions, and my answer will be based on the information you provided here. Please make sure you recognize that this forum is for educational purposes only, and it does not substitute for a formal office visit with a doctor.

Without the ability to examine and obtain a history, I can not tell you what the exact cause of the symptoms is. However I will try to provide you with some useful information.

When were the spinal taps? Spinal taps are typically at a level away from nerves/cord to prevent injury. If her neurological examination is normal, then it is unlikely that a nerve/cord has been injured. If the spinal taps were recent, she may be having local back pain. Also, headaches are a common side effect of spinal taps.

I do agree she should see a pediatric neurologist for an evaluation.

Thank you for this opportunity to answer your questions, I hope you find the information I have provided useful, good luck.
