Choroid plexus cyst in five year old

by N-Kathy-Kinder, Apr 05, 1999 12:00AM
  : : : Hello,
: : : My 5 yr old son was found to have a choroid plexus cyst after CT scan and
: : : MRI at a local childrens hospital.  He had been having headaches and the
: : : cause of his headaches had been determined as sinus infection.  I have been
  : : : told that choroid
: : : plexus cyst was also not unusual, that people just "have them".  I spoke
: : : to both of the pediatricians and neither are concerned, however there
: : : are things that I want to know that they were not able to answer. After
: : : TX with ABX his headaches are gone and have not returned in 3 months.
: : : Do choroid plexus cysts ever turn malignant?  Do they ever grow and
: : : cause increased ICP or interfere with the function of the ventricles?
: : : Can they ever cause neutological problems later in life? Are they linked
: : : to any other problems?   While searching the internet for these answers
: : : I've read that they are often discovered during ultrasounds in pregnancy
: : : and I had 4 of those due to insulin dependent gestational diabetes, and
: : : CPS was never mentioned. Sorry for the length, concerned mom
: : : I have lost a lot of sleep wondering about each of these.
  : : : Thank you very much
  : : : concerned mom
