Could you please find out for me the usual type of omnipaque dye and amount of dye used for a cervical myelogram? Example Omnipaque 180, 240 or 300 and how many cc of the dye are normally used for a myelogram? I would greatly appreciate this information.

Thanks for the question Susan. I believe the FDA regulates a maximum of about 3 gm of contrast. The 180, 240 and 300 refer to the percentage of iodine per cc. At 300 the max dose is about 10 cc at 240 about 13 cc and 180 is higher still. These doses are still very low compared to doses given for systemic CT scan for whole body testing so the impact on the kidneys is very low. Hope that helps
