hematoma

Hi,  I have a cavernous malformation in front temporal loeb.  It has bled 3 times that i know of with numorous small seizures.  My question is , What forms the hematoma around it.  My surgeon say's that the bleds have been self contained yet the films show a hematoma around it, I thought that was where it bled out.

It's impossible to accurately comment on an MRI that I have not personally reviewed. However, it's likely that the "hematoma" you speak of around the angioma is really a hemosiderin ring surrounding the lesion.  Hemosiderin is a breakdown product of blood that is often seen around brain abnormalities that have bled such as a cavernous malformation. It represents a natural stage of blood resolution within the brain and is depicted on MRI sometimes as a ring around a cavernous malformation. Hope that helps.
