numness of nose

I have numness on the left side of my nose around the tip and hole of the nose.  It feels like there is a hair on my nose and I keep swishing it away, but it is numness.  Do I need to see a Dr. this has been going on for about 3 weeks.  Thank you for you time

Without the ability to examine you and obtain a history, I can not tell you what the exact cause of your symptoms is. However I will try to provide you with some useful information.

Your symptoms are unlikely to reflect an underlying neurologic disorder, but theoretically, numbness restricted to one area of the nose could be due to a problem of the trigeminal nerve, the nerve that supplies innervation to this part of the body. Much more likely it is a local non-neurologic problem, such as allergies that are causing an irritation to your nostrils. I recommend follow-up with your local PCP/internist; if your symptoms persist, evaluation by an ENT doctor (a specialist of the ear, nose, and throat) may be indicated.
