I am a 38 year old mother of three. When I was 2 years old I suffered a brain injury that I over came and never had any effects from. Recently I was in another car accident and suddenly I suffered with severe headaches and migraines, poor eye sight, visual disturbances, loss of memory, and some cognitive dysfunction. The onset of these problems only started after my recent accidenta year ago. My neurologist sent me for a MRI of the brain and the impressions that came back revailed the following: Findings: There are periventricular white matter signal changes noted in the bilateral occipital lobe and the bilateral frontal lobe. radiologist impression and findings states:
1. There are white matter signal changes noted in the deep white matter of bilateral frontal and bilateral occipital lobe. Given the patients history of trauma, this may be beneficial. Differential diagnosis does not include nonspecific white matter demyelination as well!  Can you please tell me what this means, some say ms, and some say cerebrovascular disease ill-defined. Im so confused I have never had a seizure. And could these finding be caused by my recent accident or the one I had 36 years ago, even though I did not have any of the problems to send me for a mri until recently. And could these finding just be unrealated to the accident and the onset of syptoms (symptoms) just started by a freak coincident? And can you tell me wich dx is worse ms or cerebrovascular disease? Please help my family is very worried and would like some more clearity on the reading so my next coarse of action and treatment can be my next move.  There were no enhancing mass like abnormalities.  My Doctor told me not to be conserned about the demyelination and wait six month and talle another brain mre, If this is somthing serious I dont want to wait. Can you please inlight me on your opion. I went today and my blood pressure was 173/114. And I am scared to death.
