numbness is index finger and thumb follow Prestige ADR

I had a Prestige Artificial disc replacement C6/C7 last Friday, so 8 days ago. I was told surgery went very well, I also had a bone spur removed and my herniation was 16mm from the left. I had incredible discomfort prior to surgery on the left side of my neck, on top of my shoulder area, a spot that always was inflammed and sore, always. I also had stabbing type pain that would randomly occur in my left hand, it was awful.  Other symptoms also...like an incredible pulling/snapping (like a tight elastic band pain/numbness) in the back of my neck when I would move a certain way, pain would go up he back of my neck into the mid part of my head....so horrible.  I called them "zingers" didn't know how to describe these episodes.

So what brought me here, is I woke up from GA also with a numb index finger and thumb on my left hand.  I was told this should go away, within a week. It is still here....so sad and worried. I would like to know why this happened, when he said he was not near C5 which is the nerve responsible for these two digits.  They feel swollen, they appear like the circulation has been affected.  I thought originally it may have been from the intervenous...but no.  Will this pass?  My doctor didn't seem to concerned which sort of annoyed me.  To him it may not be a big deal but I am a dental assistant and need use of both my hands/fingers. I should mention I did NOT have this symptom prior to surgery. I had pain, but not numbness in my index finger and thumb.

Any insight would be greatly appreciated.  Otherwise, to those that may be interested, I did research the fusion vs the ADR and I am a runner, do sprint triathlons and a lot of yoga. Very active, am 47 and have never been for fit in my life. It is very important to me to not lose mobility and this is why I chose replacement vs fusion.
I found this site very helpful....post surgery, I hope to get support and support and help those making the decision.

thanks

Don't worry you will be fine, but I will be exaggerating saying that soon the numbness ofyor thumb can disappear, its a matter of monts and not weeks.
