Iron

Recently my sister had a neighbor who was hospitalized for an iron supplement overdose (Thank God she is okay now but she came close) and I just read that it takes 180 mg per 2.2 lbs (or per kilogram) to be fatal...for someone weighing 180 lbs that's 71280 mg! That's impossible to take in 65 mg tablets.. please explain? And what really is the LD?
