growth in throat

My nephew has a growth in this throat that looks like it is coming up from his stomach, kind of like an asparagus stalk - he also has a stomach ache and his throat is sore.  Has anyone ever heard or seen this?  Any response welcome.

There is a condition in young children where the epiglotis can become infected and enlarged.  Antibiotics are usually curative.  He should be seen by and ENTsurgeon who can perform a complete examination of the phaynx and larynx and recommend the most appropriate treatment.
