article and update

Hello you all. I wanted to write a quick post first of all to tell you there is a great local magazine published here in Boulder called, Women's Magazine which is distributed to all businesses and subscribing households. I was featured as the cover story for the November issue! The story focuses on my cancer diagnosis, my carepage site, how I have handled the diagnosis, and why I am an inspiration. I would love for you all to check it out, especially since you can read it online! Please go to www dot womens mag *******   and you will immediately see the story. Read the first story under, "Good morning to you, too, Doc!' When you scroll down the article, you will see a close up picture of me which was the actual picture on the cover! When I say cover, I mean COVER – because that picture was blown-up to completely cover the magazine. After you read the story, make sure you go back to the home page and read the article under 'Gratitude: In Her Words' which is the second part to the story as well as another picture. I think it is a fabulous article and I feel flattered that they chose me to be the cover story.
I know I have not been around much and there are many reasons why which I'm not in the mood to go into right now. I do want you to know I think of you all all of the time and pray for you daily. Just so you know, I have been continually receiving Avastin as a single agent every 3 weeks since mid August (when they took me off the Doxil) and I was starting to feel pretty good with the results. Unfortunately, my last ca-125 (taken 2.5 weeks ago) was at 103, which is up quite a few points from 62 about 5 weeks ago. I know I should not be too concerned until a PET or CT scan confirms, but those of you that know me know that the CA-125 has always been a good indicator of my progress. I have chemo this Wed and should get another CA-125 drawn. I have a PET scan scheduled for early Dec - I guess we shall see.
Hope you all are well, I love you and I'm sending lots of good energy :)    Deandra

  Deandra,
I have not read the article yet but willl as soon as I finish here. Doesn't it make you feel good to know that your story is being read by other women and that maybe you will help even one of them?
I am glad to hear that you are feeling better but sorry about the CA. Funny how much something like a number has come to mean so much to us! Please take care of yourself and I hope to see you around a little more.
  Love Chris

Deandra,
I am so glad that you shared this article and how smart they were to put you on the front page. You are an inspiring young woman and I am sure that you have inspired others that read the article.  It was a nice reminder to me that I need to be grateful for all that I have in my life and writing the letter to the year 2007 was a wonderful idea that I would like to do for myself. Your parents and boyfriend must be extremely proud of you. They are lucky to have you in their lives, as we are too. Hugs, Colleen

Thank you.  Its not very often that I burst out crying, but your article and looking at your beautiful face did it..I love your attitude, love your way of life and know that oYES you will kick this in the butt.

If I may I would like to borrow your line the next time someone asks me.. "How are you?"I think everyone one of us should have the energy that your post portrays... I know I have told many on here when someone asks me if I ever said WHY ME?   the answer is WHY NOT?

May llife be better to you and your beloved and I want pictures from Hawaii with the wedding ring in the pictures...

ATTA girl go get them...

What a truly remarkable young lady you are. Your grace and dignity are more than evident in the way you have handled what life has thrown at you. Your courage and fighting spirit is and will be an inspiration to all that read your story.

I admire your positive attitude, the fact that you can feel so blessed and grateful for all the wonderful things you have and will be able to have in your life, whether they be big or small and not allow what has been lost to dampen your spirit or take away your dreams for the future.

Your spoke so lovingly of your parents and no doubt they are extremely proud of their beautiful and courageous daughter, just as you should be proud of yourself.

May God continue to bless you and keep you forever safe.

ps: love your choice in movies  :-)  Janet
