Can a 29 year old contact ovarian cancer

my last mestruation lasted longer than usual, i actually lost count at 3 and half weeks. during this menstruation i was experiencing terrible pain, felt like something grabs my insides, squeezes it really tight adn then just lets go. it would happen a few times in the day then as the days progressed it would happen more often and last much longer. i tried not to think that something was seriously wrong so took pain killers to help me survive the days at work. then last week while having a shower i felt a lump just below my belly button. was shocked adn confused and abit scared so i made an appointment to see a gynae. he immediately told me i have a problem with out even a scan, he called it an ovarian mass. he did the ultrasound and confirmed it. it was 10x8 in size. he said that the mass, my left ovary adn left fallopian tube has to be removed immediately but becos i do not have medical aid i had to go to a government hospital. anyway i went there this week adn the earliest they can operate is in april. the chest x-ray was clear but im really worried becos wen they did another ultrasound at the hospital they found that the mass has grown (not sure wat size) but it has grown in a matter of 1 week. i have not gotten the results of my blood tests as yet. wat if this thing bursts before the operation, i dont know what im going to do. we do not have a family history of cancer, or at least i do not know if we did. i am only 29, not married and never had children. i have read up that ovarian cancer very unlikely happens to ladies my age but i am still scared, do u think it could be cancer.

i asked the doctor at the government hospital if they cant speed up the process due to it growing, she just looked at me laughed saying if u want it doen faster, go to the private hospital. i mena if we had the money or medical aid we would do it privately but becos we dont, we are forced to go to the government hospital. its so sad that people who are genuinely sick get treated that way.

It is very rare but still possible to have ovarian cancer at your age.  There is only a 5% chance this is cancerous but until they operate they can't tell.  With the fast growth you are at risk of rupture or torsion (twisting) which can result in infection and emergency surgery.

Can they revisit your date due to the growth on the last ultrasound?  Can your doctor advocate for you to get this done quicker?  Sometimes those who are loudest get treatment quicker.
