irregular heartbeats in a 14 yr. old girl

My 14 yr. old granddaughter has been having "flutterings" in her heart.  She has just returned from the emergency treatment clinic where she had an ekg, etc. and has been scheduled to meet with a cardiologist about irregular heartbeats.  Until that time, Dr. on call has told her to stay home from school, no step climbing, no caffine, etc. Is this unusual in a 14 yr. old who has always been healthy?

Hello and welcome to our site! Most all teens have the feeling of 'fluttering' in the heart. That is not unusual, however the fact that she has been pulled from school, no step climbing etc tends to make one question if there is a underlying issue going on with your granddaughter's heart. When is she due to see the pediatric cardiologist.
