I am sorry to hear about your father. The description you provided suggested that your father may have experiences a second stroke (and that is expected ). Anyway, the loss of the ability of speech should be temporarily and should not be something to really worry about your father. Just give him some time and his speech should recovers. I cannot tell what would be the outcomes from rehabilitation (because there is no enough information in your description), but most of my patient will recover their speech capabilities with few months. The best treatment for cases like stroke is gonna be you/ family. The physical therapist should know that and educate you to be of the effective parts in the rehabilitation team.
