? about stitches ....

Did your surgeon use a running stitch?  The office said I go back in a week to have the "string pulled" .. not the type of stitches used before .. newer style of stitching .. I think it is held together from the inside and they pull and the stitches come out with one tug and maybe a snip or two on the ends?

Just curious.

I had dermabond...or superglue as the surgeon put it.  Nice thin line, a little red and bumpy but still looks really good compared to some I've seen.

I am having surgery(lobectomy) in the next month or so and was told the surgeon would be using staples? Has anyone else had staples for this type of surgery and if so what was your experience?

I  have had the running stitch too. This is the only stitch they do at my hoszpital in the uk. my scar looks amazing. it looks better 2 days after surgery than pictures i have seen of people who has standard stitches a year ago. this was my biggest fear as i am still very young but im extremley pleased with the results.

Unfortunately for me I have a horrible scar which is very long and still red and sore.  I have my TT over a year ago.  My surgeon did not do a good job.  Plastic Surgeon doesn't want to do a scar revision and I really don't want any more surgery.  My neck is still very tight.  I believe the neck was sutured too tight.

I'm glad to hear, however, of the other good success stories.

I have a cosmetic surgery scar.  The incision was closed layer by layer inside to outside.  Inner layers stitched, outer skin layer closed with steri-strips put closely together.  When the steri-strips came off, I showed off the beautiful new necklace that my surgeon gave me for Christmas......LOL....  ;-)

Had sterile strips holding me together, which I finally pulled off abut 2 wks after surgery because they were pealing and looking yucky.

running stitch used on me, about 5 days post surgery I had it "pulled out" and my incision looks as good as they can get, while I'd prefer not to have any scar, my surgeon did a great job and 3 months later, its smooth and even, didn't have much swelling or inflamation. It was a bit daunting & strange him pulling it out but it just pinched for a few seconds then was a bit sore/raw for a few minutes afterward, but it's all good now, hardly noticeable unless you know it's there.
