HYPOparathyroid

I have hypothyroid, and now I have been told I have HYPOparathyroid too!! Numbers went from 9 to 5 to <3 in less then 4 months. I am due to see an ENDO dr. soon.
My concerns are my kidneys. I also have chronic kidney stones that have always been calcium related and have been on a low-calcium low protein diet, and now all I read about for PT is to take large amounts of calcium...so what will this do to my kidneys? My calcium stones have been so abundent that I am told not to even take a multi-vit on a daily basis due to the calcium levels. What am I supposed to do??
Also, is there anything that will help with the pain in my hands and feet? It gets sooo bad that sometimes I cannot stand up. I seem to eat Alleve sometimes, but that doesn't help, and WOW the headaches!!!

Someone help me!!!!

Hi! I expect and hope you have your answers by now. I have hypoparathyroidism. Im told people with this can get kidney stones because the calcium has to go somewhere and this is often where. What our body doesn't absorb goes into our water as waste. Hope that explains it better.
Before treatment, and on calcium dips, i had hand pain and tingles and many twitches all over. Headaches occasionally.
Now, not sure if they are related but i have other health problems, bowel problems and long term swollen glands which have been terrible for the past 3 1/2 months. Dont know why i have the hypo pt, all the usual causes have been ruled out so i am a mystery at present. xxx

You are referring above with the numbers as a calcium level of 9 - then 5 - then >3 right?

I was just reading about needing calcium. AND people prone to stones should not be taking actual tablet forms.

A liquid calcium is how you should be taking it.  Yet if you are having stone issues with a low calcium level that doesn't really make sense either.

I don't know much about HYPO PT - I know it is rare.

You symptoms fit both HYPO T and a PT problem.

What does the doc say?

Just curious...what is you PTH (parathyroid hormone) and calcium levels? Something doesn't sound right...I'm wondering if you are actually HYPERparathyroid along with being hypothyroid...Check out parathyroid.com and see if the symptoms you have fit...I have a sneaking suspicion they will...                     (((((((((((((((((HUGZ))))))))))))))      ~MM
