Let's post here anything you want to [[ vent ]] about that is thyroid related ...

We've all had a rather unusual trying day on this community with some disruptive posts that I truly believe spilled over into other people's posts today in ways which never would have occured if not for the lack of continuity which we experienced.

So go for it here .. VENT HERE .. VENT VENT VENT .. get it all out so we start out fresh tomorrow .. we are family .. and we will remain as such .... anything you want to talk about that is thyroid related go for it here .. VENT AWAY I SAY .. VENT VENT (save the non-thyroid stuff for the big even tomorrow night at TGIF @ thyroid Pub)

You actually get to talk to a nurse?  At least it is a real, live person.  I have to leave a message with the nurse with my work phone number to return the call.  Where does she call back to leave a message?  Yup, my home number, which I don't get to check until I get home at night.  So, I have to wait until the next day if a follow up call is required.  Then the cycle starts all over again.  Wonder how they'd like it if they were in our shoes. Drives me nuts!

Here goes my vent - it is so disheartening to find clumps of hair in the drain after my shower, finding hair in the sink after styling. Talk about styling, what a joke. My hair lost all its body and won't even take a curl from the curling iron. Sheeshhhh!!

My fingers are cold all the time. I'm seriously thinking about keeping the gloves out all summer. But than I would have our neighbors talking about the crazy lady on the block.

I have Graves Disease, Tachycardia, and Neutropenia. I feel as though my previous doctors overlooked the large lump in my neck which was my thyroid protruding. Now my TSH is <0.001 Free T4 5.51 and Neutrophils at about 900. I don't know the proper course of treatment and am annoyed !!!

BTW, I feel for you. I have (or had) THICK, CURLY, LONG hair. Not so much anymore. It's so thin, and I recently had to cut 4 inches off so it didn't look so stragley from the hair loss. And now I find out that it will probably continue to fall out until I get my dose right. (More guessing here too).

I was told my my hairdresser, and several others that a product called Nioxin is supposed to help keep the hair you have by creating a 'healthy' environment for your hair by cleaning the scalp. SO, I spent the $30 yesterday to see if I can save what I have left. Who knows it might be a farce... but I'm willing to try it since I've heard nothing but good about it.

It's SNOWING again. With 60mph winds... yes, that's winds... not gusts... the gusts are about 90 at times. It's miserable out... and it makes me even more tired! Wish I could curl up in bed... but there is no school (BECAUSE OF THE SNOW) so both of my girls are here!

Isn't that the SWAG method of dosing?  I know that one, and I've had that rant myself!  Don't you wish it were even somewhat of an exact science?  I've been on more than 6 med changes since November '07!  It gets old, the waiting.  Ok, now let's guess this, then wait 6 weeks of your LIFE, and then we'll "guess" again...

But I am getting better at diagnosing myself as hypo...  Man, agreeing with all your "rants" is making me feel so much better!... Let's all make Lemonaid now...(cause that's what you won for using the word of the day...) then we'll hold hands and sing kumbaya!  LOL!

My rant is doctors just 'trying things' to see what will happen. After 14 months of trying to get me "euthyroid" (I used the word of the day- what do I win??) on methimazole and finally getting there for two months in a row. My doctor decides- hey I bet you are cured let's take you off all medication and see what happens- come back in a month.  I am cured! Hooray!!  Well, 2 1/2 weeks later I feel awful and get my blood tested at a TSH of .0025  - and then had to double up meds to get me back on track in a hurry.  guess I am not cured afterall....

K, so I already toasted AR tonight, but I need to toast Venora Moonwind with a much larger glass!  Perhaps this is a makeshift pub tonight???  (I already "PM'd" her...) and, I learned a new acronym today.  I always knew you could message someone, but didn't know it had an acronym.  The things one learns while being raked over the coals... :-))

Oh I'm so right there with you on the whole issue of talking to the nurse. I hate calling and trying to get a call back. First you tell the receptionist, then the nurse calls you. You tell her what the issue is. She talks with the doc and then somwhere around 2 days later I get a call back. And 9 times out of 10 she didn't relay my issues correctly. And then I have to wait another 2 days.  And what really gets me?  The last time I went in just to get blood drawn and my doctor was walking around eating a cookie and stopped and talked to me the whole time I was getting my blood taken. Okay, why can't he talk to me on the phone when I actually have a question?  It's not like he's doing anything!

I'll raise my glass (there may even be a real one in my hand tonight!) and toast to that rant.  I resemble that remark.  I talk to my doc's nurse for months and months without any actual contact with the doc himself.   And I seem to forget about the appointments because she changes my meds via proxy.  Then we need to change the appointment I made, because I won't have been on the new meds long enough for the "doc" to do an evaluation.... UGH!

I've got a rant. It's not what is bothering me, or what I want to whine about, but it ticks me off.

Endo's who treat you through their nurse.

I think there are about a million stupid, unneeded laws in this country, but in this case, if I could, I would make it a felony to be treated by proxy.

Jail them!!

I just don't think it's too much to ask to talk to the doctor treating you when it comes to changing your treatment.

But who do I talk to 90% of the time? The nurse. I've seen my Endo four times. I've talked to the nurse at least fifty times.

She called me two days ago and changed my med dose from 100mcg to 75mcg. I was thinking "wouldn't 88mcg make more sense?" but I didn't ask. What's the point?

I've been down that road twenty times. I say "blah blah, BLAH!" and she says "well, I'll have to talk to the doctor and get back to you".

Might as well be communicating with smoke signals.

LET ME TALK TO THE DOCTOR!

The lack of communication is astounding when you have to speak through a filter. What I say to the nurse is not what the doctor hears, and what the doctor says to the nurse is not what I hear.

AARRRGGGGG!!!!!!!!

Maybe I could drain our pool and fill it with Long Island Iced tea?  Margaritta perhaps?  But then the delimma of whether to turn the heat on or not...  Hmmmm, just a thought, maybe not.  Besides, it's not "virtual".  You all wouldn't be in it with me...  :-(

Okay, I'm gonna vent. I feel horrible again and I'm starting to feel somewhat like this is never going to end. My tongue is burning, all the teeth on the left side of my mouth hurt, my neck feels constricted, my muscles ache and I'm shaky again. I cannot live like this, I just can't. Had blood drawn today and see the doc on Monday. He better fix it or I'm gonna open up a can of WHUP-A$$!

I'd like to be King. (WooHoo!!)

I'll settle for being euthroid.

For the new people, thats the word for the day.
Euthroid!!

As far as ranting, I don't think it would help any of us if I started. I'd end up with Carpel Tunnel(how do you spell that?), and everybody would be yelling SHUT UP!!

:-)

Are you kidding me? Allowing me to vent here?

Here I go:

I was told the chance of cancer is small, so a TT would be overkill, and now I have !@#$% cancer and I have to have a second surgery!!!!!

And, I have to wait about 3 months before I can have that second surgery - so that the area can heal first - ironic or what?????

And, the only smiles / energy I have is for my sons, other than that, everyone (my friends on this site, my family, my friends, my coworkers, my husband) everyone gets my tears!!!!!

The left side of my thyroid took my spirit with it!!!!

Now that I've vented, I can go back to crying...
