michelle here again i wanted to know does 100mcg of levthyroxine is too low cause i have been very hypo lately weight gain feeling cold getting a cold the dr put me on 100mcg to start with then as myblood th levels got very low they had to change my dose now i am getting double one day of 100mcg does that come to 150 mcg cause im hopeless with my mathscause ive just started to get tremors and fast heart rate occasionly this heart rate thing is not a hospital emergency thing is it
MIichelle here your right i shouls be on 150mcg of levthyroxine if one pill is 100mcg and i take that one morning then take two of the same tablets the next day that is 150mcg is it or 200 thanks for being ahelpful friend ar
The 100, 200, 100, 200 is stupid.
You should be on 150mcg.
When you take your pill, your T4 rises about 20% for four hours.
When you take two pills your TSH rises 40% for four hours.
That is not going to feel good. It's a daily roller coaster that you do not need.

Better to ask your doc for a new script, if possible and get on a consistent dose every day (but the 100, 100, 200 may help for now).

michelle here thanks for that advice yeah i might try that instead of 100mcg one day and double that the nextday ill do 100mcg two days then 200 the other your been great help

I still don't get this alternate treatment plans some docs advise.

Increase slowly
I think you should call the doc and say you want a totally new script - one that is .112 mcg then retest in 4 to 6 weeks - then based on your numbers maybe another incease to .125 mcg then retest again.
This up and down stuff is not the way a normal thyroid function works so why force this with medication?

Hi,
you might have increased the dose too fast. Maybe would be better if you were on 125 per day instead of 100 on one day and 200 on the next (yes, average of 150). Thyroid is available in smaller doses.
Alternatively try 100 for 2 days and then the third day on 200.
The tremor and fast heart rate could be sign of too much thyroid hormone. But is not a hospital emergency...
Do let your doctor know your symptoms and get his/her advice on this as well.
