RAI hypo diet

I am going hypo for two weeks prior to RAI. I was told red wind has high iodine so should be avoided. White is better. Does all alcohol contain some iodine?

I just got off the LID today after 2 1/2 weeks.  A few Coronas last weekend sure helped me forget that I felt like hopping like a bunny from all the rabbit food I've eaten.  I also used some beer in a pot roast I made while on the LID and it turned out pretty tasty and very tender.

Ummm . . . where would the iodine come from???
Grape juice and jelly is fine so why not red wine - it's just fermented grape juice??

Maybe because it's red someone assumed that you can't have it (red dye #3 is a "no no" but you don't always know which red dye was used so they say to avoid all of them).

I just checked the LID on ThyCa and it says beer, wine, and alcohol are all fine.
Here's the reference: http://www.thyca.org/rai.htm

If you can tolerate it, and your doctor okays it, I don't see a problem.

I agree with Liz!  Check with your Doctor first!  I am on the LID and I can not imagine drinking because the nausea with the hypo is bad enough!

I am on week 2 of that dumb diet right now and the literature my doctor gave me states "beer, wine or other alcohol only as allowed by your doctor." I would check with your doc.  I will tell you this.....you may not want it.  I drank a little on New Years and my body could not take it, it made me very sick and I was only 10 days 'hypo" at that point. Another thing, once you start this diet you may find yourself more than a little nauseated most of the time. Not sure why that is.  All I can say is, next friday can't come soon enough for me because I am having something involving  a lot cheese! Enough of this fresh fruit and veggie nonsense.
