Synthroid and Armour?

I was taking 50mcg of Synthroid for a couple of months and saw improvement in skin tone (lack of dry flaky skin) and concentration. Over the past few weeks I have experimented with Armour, trying different dosages. I can not seem to tolerate more than a quarter grain without experiencing some angina and the dry flaky skin has returned. Have thought about adding back in the 50 mcg of Synthroid with the quarter grain of Armour. Has anyone tried this? I can also go back to Synthroid alone but there was so much hype on Armour I figured I should try it.

Why would I be opposed to trying different drugs that are helpful to many? Kind of like saying if you like vanilla ice cream don't try any other flavors. And the same reason people take vitamins and other supplements. They are looking for optimum health. I am sure you all know the many effects that can be blamed on an underactve thyroid and the many that say that the T3 in Armour is something not provided in Synthroid. While Synthroid has improved some of my lethargy, skin problems, concentration, etc,  I would be foolish not to try to get the best improvement  possible.
I only tried Synthroid because I read that an underactive thyroid could cause the problems I have endured for many years and I had to twist the doctors arm to try a low dosage. Like many I have read about; my thyroid testing reveals normal function without any supplementation. My doctor would have continued to treat the dry skin with lotion, the concentration with Adderal (amphetamine) and the depression with Paxil (antidepressant). None of these solutions addressed the underlying problem; just the symptoms.
I truly believe that one has to take responsibility for their own health issues and not think that a doctor will discover all that there is to know. These forums give us all the opportunity to observe the good and bad experiences that others have had in their search for better health. I appreciate the feedback and will likely stay tuned to Synthroid unless I read about something else working better.

I am on Armour and I am one of the ones who didn't benefit from Synthroid - you are very lucky your found Synthroid to work best for you - it is the thyroid drug of choice and many doctors will not continue Armour if you need to change to someone else.

Go back to what works - and the question is still ot there - Why did you try it if Synthroid was working?

Just curious, if you were feeling good with the synthroid why change to the armour?  Also, I think alot of people actually get taken off of it as they get older because of the heart palpitations or angina it can cause.  (Are they both the same?)
I'd stick with what works if you were having success on it.

Ignore the hype. Armour is for certain people, not for everyone.

Unless you are having conversion problems, Armour is not the drug for you.

Messing with your thyroid meds is sort of like self-medicating for a heart condition. A doctor who treats himself has a fool for a patient. A patient who self-medicates is asking for complications.

Running out of quaint sayings, but you get the idea.
