Sorry that got posted before i had finished. I have had worsening symptons now for 9 months, i chronic diarrehea - i mean nearly every day unless i take codine, flushing spasmodically and i cant walk up 3 flights of stairs without being out of breath.

Hi, I had a thyroidectomy in 2000, and i have never been right since, they didnt even tell me till i went back for a post op that i had a growth which luckily was beign. Hoever i went on to develop loads of complications and then they lost my notes!!!!! I have been in and out of hospital for the last 8 years, with all hormone related illness's , they now think i have Carcinoid Syndrome, as my gut hormone blood test revealed an abnormal Chromogranin A level in my body. However looked into this, this would appear or mean i have a NET tumour somewhere in my body

AR i dont know where they found you but i would like you to know that i think your a great fountain of knowledge and how i wish you were my doctor.
i think you should post the subject of adrenal failure as there seem so many who may have this as a problem where their test results show no thyroid problem, i didnt realise there was another condition where so many of the symptoms are the same. i dont know if i have it but when i read up on all the symptoms those that i still have are on the list, although there is a lot i dont have, but i will be mentioning it at my next doctors visit heres hoping, i may get some answers
thanks very much jackie
You are right AR -- you are!!
Have you had your adrenals tested?
Adrenal insufficiency can have a lot of the same symptoms as hypothyroidism.
I refuse to accept that I am going to feel bad the rest of my life. There are too many people running around getting on with their lives to believe that all thyroid patients are going to always feel bad and may as well get used to it.
That is just lazy doctoring in my opinion.
Oh, how I hope I am right about this one.
just thought id share this bit of info i had posted a similar question to the doctor on this forum and he tells me also that my meds probably too high said i might feel better with t3 but symptoms that i still have are probably not thyroid related sounds just like my doctor! or maybe i am just mad and its not my thyroid?
thanks for your answer i really think i need to pester my doctor to see if he will get me a second opinion, and he was most definatly a complete arse.
Without seeing any Free T3 level is is hard to say how your conversion is. At least that endo had the sense to run a Free T4 though. Yes it is high which leads me to believe you have alot of Free T4 running around and not converting into T3 which is what needs to be. Your TSH is supressed but I think you need to be lower - around a 0.01 or so. That is not a very low supressed level that you have. Again - not seeing a Free T3 test it's hard to determine if you need a med increase of not.
Personlly his comment of dealing with it - is reduclious - and he gets listed under my thoughts of being an insensitive jerk. In your case with cancer I would find an endo - or ?? with some real knowledge and has a human side to his/her patients.
