although i agree that smoking is horrible for you (who wouldn't), i ahve been an on and off smoker for years and when i hit week 4 of being clean i started to have strong cravings for opiates and cigarettes. instead of going to score drugs i would go and buy a pack of smokes and have a little binge. i swear it kept me from running out to get drugs, but now i wnat to smoke more and more often so i have THAT monkey to get off my back. you do what you have to, i guess.
good luck,
Kova
Yes smoking WILL hurt you. My BF died of lung cancer years ago. Two people in my family are barly able to go into a grocery store because thier breathing is so difficult even carrying a oxygen tank. It also ages your skin.
It would be a bummer to get clean for a wonderful new chance at life only to die from smoking.
just popped on to see how y'all are doin. this post is dead on balls right! YOu have done sooooowelll!! don't smoke! it is gross, disgusting, and you will probably feel very nauseous-yuk. How about a brisk walk, not just a walk. Have any exercise equipment?? jump on the stairclimber and do 50 - 150 whatever you can do. Your endorphins will reward you with both a quick boost followed by a "rest of the evening calm". Good for you!
Try breathing exercises if you start to feel a panic / anxiety attack coming on......just get yourself distracted. Dont dwell on how uncomfortable it is or whether you are going to die or not - breathe in slowly and deeply while doing a ten count ---- now exhale from the abdomine (Bhudda belly!) while doing a slow ten count ...... maybe check out a good movie or whatever - just change your immediate thoughts and environment if you can.....I know they are quite uncomfortable, but they arent really life threatening.
I agree, get out for a walk, keep busy and that craving will pass. I wish i could go a day without smoking let alone a month. It's such a bad habit and you've done so well. Don't light up.Congrats on your clean time
you have come this far on not smoking why start now... a month is awesome... please don't start again, this is coming from a smoker that wishes she could go a month without one
well when i went through vic withdrawal the center of my chest hurt from anxiety but that is gone now so i didn't know if i smoked if i would bring back that feeling in the center of my chest again.
A cigarette wont have anything to do with the vicodin.......at 26 days clean it may be a good time to look at all health issues, though.
