Day 2 of round 3 vs Vicodin

I feel like my stomach is eating itself from the inside. My heads pounding I can't sleep. The worst part is I went through this twice before! Yet, here I am. I pray for everyone else struggling with this. It's an awful battle. Especially when you have significant daily pain to manage! I'm so afraid that when I get my severe migraines I'll be back on the pill train. It's scary. Thank you all for the encouragement and love!!!! I'm determined to cleanse my body this time and be healthy for my lil boy

You made it through the first week! That's awesome. I know it's been really rough. I truly hope the new meds help the migraines. I used to get migraines once a month, several years ago, and I understand how awful they are. Your mood and energy will get better! It just takes time. No one can exactly pinpoint it for you. I know everyone hates the word time, but truly it will get better. Please hang in there. Going for walks is great, I'm glad you are doing that. Keep posting and let us know how you are doing. Take care,

I have had a migraine all day today. The pain is awful. I've never heard of alkaline water! I'll try it. I can't take any type of migraine meds such as imitrex Maxalt treximet etc because of the anxiety meds I'm on. They interact. So we are trying amitriptyline at night. Hopefully it helps! I still feel like I want to give up. Like I'll never have the energy and upbeat feelings I did when I had the pills. I'm sad all the time, moody, tired and grumpy. When will the moods stabilize???? How long does it take for my brain to realize it needs to get back to work without meds?:) I am so sick of feeling sick. It's awful. I love you guys for being my support system. My husband makes me go out for family walks every day, and that helps. But I still feel awful.

Hi Kimby
So glad you found MH.  Congrats girl on day6 I think now!  I'm thinking
you are feeling a lot better physically?  Day 5 was the turnaround for
me.  I wanted to add my support as well.  You've got some awesome
info above here....all of it great.

Really listen to Evolver about the breathing and just focus on the "moment at hand", nothing else matters or exists except this very moment. (way to sing it Evolver!) The breathing always works for me as I can't take any
benzo's for anxiety. The trick is to make sure you are filling your lungs (diaphram not stomache) completely and exhaling completely and slowly.
You can get a decent little "calming buzz" from this alone.
(I'm not promoting "buzzes" of any kind)

Ask your doctor about imitrex for migraines as Sonrissa said.  Also what
I do is drink a glass of alkaline water. (water with lemon juice and a quarter tsp. baking soda.)  just down it.

I wish you all the luck my dear and will be watching and rootin for ya.
hugs and hope
xo

Just wanted to send some support your way. Its rough right now, but keep focused on all the benefits of being free of the pills. When I was in that first week, I realized I would have a few aweful days, but kept telling myself I did not have to return to this misery unless I chose to, and that every moment, minute, hour, day, etc. things would slowly, but steadily improve. I kept reading and rereading the wonderful posts on this Forum, and decided I wanted what many here have achieved-and their stories about how they set out to do it.
Hang in there, it gets better, thats a promise (much better)

You sound better! Remember to try to stay as active as possible. If you can get yourself outside in the fresh air, and take at least a short walk, it will help tremendously! Good luck, and keep moving forward! let us know how your appt with the neurologist goes.

You guys are awesome. Thank you a million times. I am seeing a neurologist for my migraines. They won't prescribe pain meds. I will have to try the ginger stuff. This stomach crap is the worst!!!!! I'm soaking a lot, and trying to get through each day. I'm drinking a decent amount, but can't eat. Hardly at all. I had a protein smoothie today though, that helped. Crackers too. Ugh-I'm hating myself and the anxiety is destroying my brain. Thank you guys. I'd be lost without this site.

I just wanted to add my support. Like Evolver said, many of us don't get it right the first time. Pick yourself up, dust yourself off, and try again. What are you planning on doing differently this time? The key is to get rid of the stuff that wasn't working and keep the stuff that did. And get rid of your sources!! That's a biggie that will keep catching you up if you don't do it. Good luck to you! Take care and keep your head up.

Hi there Kimby & a Big Congrats on day 2! (I'm glad you're hanging in there.) I just wanted to let you know that you CAN do this & that you're Not alone. You're in the right place & as to having done this before....well, that's the nature of addiction! (Almost all of us have fallen over and over before we adjusted our game plan -- & then sometimes it happens again & we get right back on that horse & turn in the right direction.)

I know you're feeling rough right now. Please, know that when you look back, the acute w/d's that you're experiencing right now will seem like the blink of an eye. Yes, time is crawling right now ..that's why it's so important that you tell yourself that you don't have to make it to day three or week one, etc. Your only present to yourself & the ones you love right now is to make it through this Single Moment -- just right now -- b/c, guess what? If you think about it, that's all that we really have & can control. So, just breathe & try not to look down that tunnel. Put your earbuds/headphones on, watch a funny movie or something you'll enjoy. Take as many hot salt baths when you're achy/stressed as you need. Hydrate well (2 to 3 liters per day) & force yourself to eat. If you can, exercise will help -- even getting outside & walking a bit.

Here's a stomach remedy (if you're nauseous) that's been pretty effective for a bunch of folks on MH (including myself.) Take some fresh ginger, peel about a 1" square piece, press it through a garlic press into a mug (or dice it finely if you don't have one), throw the pulp in for good measure, cover it w/ simmering water & then let it steep for five minutes or so. Then drink  it & try to relax by doing deep belly breathing and smiling.

The key to a successful detox is a good plan & a determined & positive attitude. How are you set for supplies, Kimby? Do you have any support around you?

I just wanted to let you know that you CAN do this (in fact you're in the midst of it right now!!) FEAR is your enemy. So, try to start reminding yourself in every moment of every day why you want this & that you're much stronger than you know. Please, let us know how you're doing & what your thoughts/concerns are. We're here & we're pulling for you!

Hi Kimby, are you following the Thomas Recipe? It really will help! Take Immodium for the stomach issues. Alteril can help with the sleep. Magnesium with restless legs, etc. As you know, you will have a few more days of this. These days, there is no reason to suffer with migraines. Have you tried Imitrex? (Not sure of the spelling) There are lots of alternatives other than pain pills. Lots of us suffer from pain, I myself have arthritis in my shoulder and both knees. I use the alternatives to pain pills. Surprisingly, they actually work. This is all about determination, and how bad you really want this. It will get better, just get through these next few days, first. One step at a time. Take care.
