Don't you get vacation time, why not do it then? Alcohol is another hurdle in itself and if you are dependent you need a supervised detox....if not any effects from the alcohol will be overshadowed by the pill w/d's. I hate to promote drugs, but have you ever considered suboxone? If done right you can be on then off in no time and minimize w/d symptoms dramatically. If c/t is the way you want to go then there is no hiding your "problem" depending on your daily dose. You didn't say? Sometimes people come on here and all they do is a few vicodins a day and that is a piece cake compared to a deep oxy addiction. Which one are you? That could help us give you the best and most realistic advice for what you'll face.
Here is what I did ..
Quit on Friday am ,, no pills.. by afternoon, it will be apparent to others that your sick..
By Friday afternoon, my face was covered in sweat, my hair was wet.. people where saying... " Gee, your sick, I hope your not contagious" . .
Then, on the Saturday night, email your boss and tell him your flat on your back.. Same thing on Sunday.. offer to make up the time..
Then, same thing Monday and Tuesday..
Most bosses are human.. they have been sick themselves.. if they saw you sick, and hear from you .. they understand.. if they think your shopping with the girls.. well, your in trouble.
The other thing is to get a letter from a doctor on the Monday..
Most of it is respect for your employer.. Treat them like they are the most important thing in your mind and they will be understanding..
If you're a functioning addict, then outpatient rehab may be for you. I did outpatient rehab, and I went from 9-3 for 3 weeks, and then nights. I do know that they worked with people. Maybe a week long detox and afternoon rehab sessions? The key is to call around..tell them what you need and ask them to work with you. You really do need a medically involved detox with alcohol. Can you give a little more on your history...are you a binge user? Every day?
