Excersise and sweating reduce/shorten WD's?

Does anyone have any insight on the impact of exercise and sweating for reducing and shortening WD's?  Can it shorten the lenght of time?  Does sweating do anything in regards to reducing/shortening wd's?  Does the exercise change/restore things in the brain faster?   Pardon all my /'s   (FYI: My issue is opiates)  Very curious to learn the in's and out's of the impact.   Thanks!

When I ran or exercised or just walked I always felt better.  When I was done it all came back.

I always say keep active. Clean walk keep your mind busy. It's not as bad when you aren't focusing on how bad you feel. RLS is not there if moving. No pain. It helps a lot.

Hello everyone I have been taking oxicodon for about 2 years pretty close to 200 mg a day I was straight abusing them for sure.  I have a very physical demanding job with no vacation yet I have been at work the last 3 days although you (I stopped taking them 3 days ago)  may feel like you can't get up or do anything if you are set on getting off you can over come anything I have 5 little that drove me to get up and go to work it definitely ***** but it can be done I will not be taking them anymore and hope that all of you that want off can over come it

Thanks everyone for your feedback!   I am seeing that you are all correct in your information regarding getting lots of sun, sweating and working out.  I spent an hour in the sun yesterday sitting by a pond and it felt amazing!  Gonna do a lot more of that for sure.  Then I worked out enough to get a good sweat going and then hit the sauna for 15 minutes and was soaked in sweat.  I slept sooooo much better last night.   Thanks again everyone and it has become very clear how fresh air, sunshine and physical activity benefits the mind and body.

Detox is what it is.  Varies person to person but it isn't a picnic. Accept that.  There are, however, many ways you can lessen the misery.  My first week was just plain-out awful.  It wasn't until day 8 that I could mildly function.  But starting on day 5 I forced myself to do a little bit every day. A walk around the block.  Five minutes on the treadmill.  And each day I increased that a wee bit.  I'm at day 26 and will tell you exercise and nourishing my body is what turned the tables for me.  Allow your body to tell you what it can do and then push it just a little.  And I mean a little. After about day 10, start nourishing and pushing more. Sonrissa is correct about sunshine.  I would sit outside in small chunks throughout the day. Watch the birds. Stare at the clouds.  It all makes sense, right?  Exercise, nutrition, all the postive things our bodies need to be strong.  Certainly not narcotics.  The poisons are leaving in many ways.  Your body is ridding itself of all of them.  Now it's up to you to replace those toxins with the ingredients it needs to heal.  Congratulations!

Yeah I have to agree with everyone.... I didnt do too much the first week because I was too exhausted..... but Ive noticed Im feeling better when I do workout.... especially today... I was able to last for an hour and I was pumped... plus I think it keeps you busy...releases those endorphins and maybe even helps mentally... but the first week is HELL I think regardless... theres no way past it... mind over matter... keep it positive ok... hang in there!!!

Yes Hydro, exercise absolutely helps! The more you sweat, the more you stink!! LOL but truly the toxins are coming out! It helped me a lot, plus get some sun!! Natures healer! Just don't overdo it and not too much sun! You can do this, I know you can! I will help in any way possible! I'm on around day 13 and I'm seeing the light and feeling much much better! I'm still scared, and have a long way to go! But it gets so much better!!

I think one of the reasons the hot baths/showers with the epsom salts is that is causes you to sweat and you're releasing toxins through your skin (all those narcs we took) - so the exercise can only further that process.  Definitely a good idea to get active - but I do agree that those really early days, it's all you can do to get up and out of bed, so I took it slow at first.  But definitely get moving!

Tova point yes because exercising makes your body release endorphines. When a person is abusing opiates(me too), the body stops producing natural endorphines and relise on the chemical.

For the first week I exercised but never too strenuously.  Maybe a walk or short jog.  I think putting too much stress on your body too soon can have adverse effects especially during acute WD when your body is struggling to recover itself.
After 2weeks I exercise a bit more.  Play basketball, run, lift...
There's no question it gets natural endorphins pumping but I'm not sure it really shortens WD.  It'll make you feel better and help you brain start to produce the natural endorphins that it's been missing due to the artificial opiates.
Laughing, eating, sex can also release the natural endorphins as well.  There's a few things one can do...
