Husband's Detox: Day 2

Well... today is day 2 of my husband's detox.  His first 24 hours without Tramadol.  He had a really rough night, his legs were killing him and they would not stop moving; the restless leg syndrome.  It's still pretty bad this morning, but we are moving forward; got him up and fed and now he is trying to sleep some more.  I feel pretty helpless; nothing I can do for him, but just be here; hopefully that will be enough.
Just wanted to update everyone; I know we have a long road ahead of us, but I am so proud of my husband for taking this giant step.

I've taken it for migraines, and it wasn't that useful ... I always take more than recommended, but I certainly didn't get a buzz ... what's the attraction, anyway? Is it a mild oxy-like high or something like it?

I have a few; thinking of using them for oxy c/t with a few T-3's the first few days.

I think it's under-labelled if you folks get a buzz -- what do you feel? It won't happen to me, but I'm curious ...

Thanks

i am on my second round of detoxing from 150mg of norco a day.. the only thing I cfter could say is everyone should see a Psychiatrist who is an expert in the addiction community, get a dose of subutx after 25 hours of withdrawal and you will be feeling better then ever. The withdrawal from subutex is much easier than vicodin or the likes, and in 45 days you are better then new... no crawlies, leg or arm pain...feeling like your head is going to explode... ect.. This is the second time I have had to go through this. I have tried the tapering, but the relaps is very great an issue because the cravings are so strong...as we all know. This stuff is a GOD SEND

Just stay strong for your husband, your doing all you can to help support him and that means a lot to him to help him keep moving forward with his battle. I went through this crazy battle 11 days ago with my husband...it was scary and emotional for as well as him. He's still having the up and down feelings so be prepared that once the worst of the w/d's are done he may still not feel 100% himself. But also with all the focus your giving your husband to help him don't forget about yourself, having someone to talk to may help you as well if you feel a little overwhelmed by it all. :)

THanks everone for the ideas.  Unfortunately, with his kidney disease, potassium is a no-no.  I rub his legs when he'll let me.. they get pretty sensitive.  It's been a bit rougher today, he's having an emotional roller coaster day... depressed, happy, angry and round-and-round we go.  I'm going to look into after care places tomorrow and hopefully I'll be able to find a few places he can check out.  He will definitely need someone besides me to talk to about everything.
AGAIN, thank you all so much!!!

good for your husband to get off those. was my doc for 4 years at 12 a day and c/t too. hot bathes help alot as i took 12 a day on day two and three. my body felt like i jumped from the sears tower and lived to tell about it. the rls and no sleep were the worst for me and for some reason it took me two and a half weeks to finally get some. try getting some potassium pills at the store and some laverian root and melatonin, this helped mee a little or quite a bit maybe with the rls and i could get maybe two and a half hours of sleep during the night while w/ding. it really does at least help with the rls. good luck and my prayers are with you.

durning the nights I went between watching the full season of a tv show and reading a book of course I could not do either for to long at a time without taking brakes but it really did help make the nights not feel so long .

You should rub his legs and feet.
That feels so great.
Remember the potassium and water.
If you don't stop the diarrera, things get way worse.

Sunlight.
Take him to a tanning bed.
He will love you for it.
When you are going through WD's, you flux from hot to cold and back again.
Over and over.
There is something about tanning beds that helps set the internal thermostat.
Have him get up and walk when he is able.
Laying in bed makes the nights last years.
Take it from me.
It is terrible.
