Hydrocodone and depression

I have suffered from depression most of my adult life. I take lithium Wellbutrin pristiq and clomping. I am going through menopause. I take about 6 six 7.5 hydros a day. I have taken the meds for 20 years, but the hydros about 2 years. Lately I have become morbidly depressed, and I need to know if you guys think its the hydros. Sometimes I do take more, but never more than 10 hydros.

Hi there! I started taking an antidepressant (Pristiq) after I quit pain pills. I was extremely depressed. I truly believe that it was the pain pills that directly contributed to my depression. I'm still taking the Pristiq, and it has helped tremendously.  All the best to you!

I truly believe the hydros are probably contributing to your depression.  Once I quit and gave my brain and body time to adjust to life w/o the pills..my depression became so much lighter.  I hope this happens to you.

I'm no expert or anything but I too have took lortabs for 7 years and right now trying to taper off. I can say only from my own experience that they can make you feel depressed, they can make you feel angry or like you can do just about anything. That's the down side of them as well as other things. If u feel they are making you depressed I would suggest talking to your doctor and maybe they can taper you down and change your med to something different. But in my none professional opinion any opioid pain killer can make you feel this way. It has me. I wish you the best at figuring this out. Just remember don't let your depression get to bad before you bring it to your doctors attintion. Good luck to you
