My friend needs help.

My friend and I have decided to quit abusing vicodin together. We have both been using for sometime. I stopped using 2 years ago because I got pregnant. But got back on a year ago with a tooth ache. I told myself I could quit. Not!!! Back on the train ride I went. We both went to our doctors yesterday. Mine prescribed methadone and clonidine, hers sent her to a pain clinic.  She got suboxen and some gel (not sure what for). We talked this morning. She seemed to have a better night then myself. I decided to go CT. she just texted me her teeth are clenching and the craving is strong. Should my advise to her be to just do it CT. Or is sub oxen a better way.

HI your best bet is always to just get off your DOC rather then going on a maintenance drug there a lot harder to get off you could be done with this in about 4 days it up to you bet C/T ing is often the best way....its also not a good idea to do this with a friend one caves in and the other follows do this for yourself go to the lowe right of this page and look up the thomas recipe pick up the stuff along with a case of gatoaid you will need to forse the fluids and I tell evey body stating out you just got to be ok with out being ok for a wile YOU CAN DO THIS good luck and God bless......Gnarly

Alscott, can she join this site?  If you two were just taking the 5 per day like you said, she should not need the suboxone either.  Cold turkey at this point is safe.  I'd like to talk to her, if she is willing.  I would hate to have her think this is not doable and return to the vics.  
Like I've said before I was taking 20 vics per day sometimes more.  I went cold turkey, and the withdrawals are awful, but not unmanageable.  The dr. prescribed me Clonidine, without any other offer.  I asked for something for the severe anxiety, she gave me 4 valium, just 4 enough to take 1 per night for the next 4 nights.  I'm at Day 20 today, and doing great.  If your friend will talk with me/us please encourage her to.  This site has helped me so very much.

I am concerned about this too. I truly believe god gave me the strength to turn around without filling the prescription. Could you tell me how methadone works? I have thrown the script away. I'm curiousbnow as to why he would prescribe methadone, and not sub oxen

I cant believe your doctor prescribed methadone for a vicodin addiction. But cold turkey seems to me to be the quickest way back to a real life, free of her demons.
