Do I start over from Day 1?

Just wondering about this and looking for opinions.  I was off meds for two and half years and then had surgery again. I was on percs (my doc) for two months and then stopped.  Did I need the meds? Yes except for about 2-3 days towards the end that I probably could have gotten by without them.  I had some minor withdrawals but absolutely no cravings. Back in the gym and getting by with Motrin.

My question is do you think I need to start from day 1 again for 'clean' time?  Thinking that PAWS may be an issue again is really upsetting.

Thanks,

Guy

Thank you so much!  I value all of your opinions and I kinda go with the saying 'it's a mind over matter. If I don't mind, then it don't matter.' In this case, I feel good, don't care about the meds and have enough awareness after interacting with you all and living through h3ll getting off the first time, that relapsing and going through WDs/PAWS is something I don't ever want to experience again.

Power to the people who can continuously do this, i.e. relapse and then get straight again.  They are much stronger than I.

Carry on Guy and keep counting those days.  You took those meds for a legit reason.  Continue on in your recovery and keep hittin the gym!!  Let us know how you are doing.  sara

Pain medications have an important place for legitimate health reasons.  As long as they were prescribed and taken as directed by your doctor IMO you are clean.  You are obviously working your recovery and thats what is most important.  Stand tall and keep on working it.  Hope your surgery was successful and that you and feeling well. . . i think you used them in a healthy and non abusive way. as long as your true motivation was good, you didn't let them get away with you....don't sweat the small stuff. onward!

In my opinion, as long as you did not go get pills from a dealer or abuse the script you had then I think you are still clean. Just because we are addicts does not mean that we should have to suffer when we have to have surgery or some type of procedure. It just means that we have to be more aware and more carefull then the average Joe. You are doing great!!! Good job!!!!

Hi, Guy

the thing about the PAWS would be the more disturbing  to me about taking again opiates after your surgery for pain. I wish you the best with them cause i really have had a rough time with them and hope you won't experience them again :) i really do hope it. The best thing to me would be: Don't think about them and keep working as hard as you have been doing on your recovery.

as for the clean thing, i agree when i have read here that we are not martyrs and if they are needed, they are needed .

cleantime is a personal thing.  you have to do what YOU feel comfortable with.  you must feel guilty because you are posting here.  the number doesnt matter, what truly does matter is that your back living your life of recovery.  stay strong.

I agree with Vicky kind of the last three days you said you could have gotten by without them. I think you are the person who has to answer the question look into your heart and ask yourself the answer will be there. It sounds kind of corny when I reread that but I had a similar question awhile back and that's what my sponsor told me to do.
Good luck, Becca

Hi~  I think you're okay...no need to start over in my opinion.  As long as you weren't having a party with those pills and the use was legit.  Sometimes we need to have meds, you know?
Make sure the rest are all gone now...

Don't worry about PAWS...just keep up the exercise!!

Good luck~
