Does anyone know about the nausea?

I tried to stop oxycontin recently. I had run out for weeks at a time kind of frequently. It was never very bad. I was a little lazy. That's about all. Then I didn't run out for a few months. One day I ran out. I became really sick to my stomache. I mean REALLY sick. After a day or so I was throwing up almost constantly. I had never felt so sick in my life. I kept throwing up for a couple days. It was horrible. Then I tried to take an Oxy and threw it up. No matter what I tried to take, I threw it up. So I snorted one. It worked. The problem is that now I'm sure I have a problem and I want to stop. I currently have about 18 oxys 40mg tabs and I am only allowing myself one a day. I really want to stop entirely but I'm pretty scared. When I was throwing up for those couple days I ended up telling my daughters father what had happened as he was sort of watching it and it was unavoidable. He ended up getting drunk and calling me a heroin addict and now I'm ashamed and wish I had just said it was the flu and to stay away from me. Obviously we don't get along at all. I have been reading this thing for a couple hours. I also have a small amount of xanax and soma as I noticed that during those couple days I was  tossing and turning like crazy and could not sleep. I had some horrible restless leg arm and entire body thing going on. I am not taking them because I have been reading this site and it sounds like when I run out of the oxy's I am going to need them badly in order to get any rest at all. I also have Norco's and that tapering thing sounds easiest as for some reason whenever in the past I stopped that it really was not too bad. I would just get mild cramps and then in a day it would be over. That was before I discovered Oxycontin. But maybe I'm wrong and for once I'm in over my head. I'm scared. Can anyone answer a couple questions? How long do you throw up like that? Should I just taper to Norco now and then will it not happen? I have been unable to work and now I need to get a job but I'm afraid that if I don't take care of this 1st I am going to end up losing the job by getting sick as soon as I take it. I really can't believe my stupidity. What was I thinking? It just seemed like everything was always so hard and I was able to be a more perfect person with a little help. I was able to be super mom and super everything. I was never too tired to please everyone at once. Now I'm just scared and want to know how many days am I going to be sick. I saw something called the Thompson method, but I couldn't figure out what the doses were and I didn't see anything about throwing up or how to avoid it. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thank You

like said above..nausea is common..vomiting is not the rule unless a person is a heavy user..heroin addicts may experience vomiting..most pill poppers do not..but we r all different....the runs were the worst for me/imodium did the trick tho..mild nausea...a mild headache..fatigue...no rls...no sleep issues in fact slept 16 hrs a day during detox...we r all different
u r trying to take 1 40 a day?? the pills u have are probably time released so u can not break them..or should not..but if u r snorting u r anyway...there is a taper article in the health pages that emphasizes taking small doses several times a day vs a big dose once a day..best to taper with fast acting and not time released pills tho....ie...10 mgs 4  x a day is easier on the brain than 40 mgs once a day..the dopamine bombardment caused by large doses at one time, snorting, shooting and chewing make it more difficult than someone who swallows their pills to stop.  There is also an article on dopamine there as well
Having a plan is important..it is a wonderful thing for most to admit they have a problem..huge first step...making a plan and trying ur best to stick to it is all we can do..read and educate urself on why u feel the way u feel when u stop...and learn about how to stay as comfy as u can while u r detoxing and also how to stay on the road to recovery without relapsing
I also did sumpin silly like u did..I told my mom!  Geez..I have had it thrown back in my face on many occasions...she took me off as executor of her will...not that i wanted to be anyway..it was the point that she didnt trust me that hurt....we r not bad people..we ronly sick with a disease many do not understand
hang tight and keep posting

Hi - do you have someone who can stay with you, someone who can look after you if you need further help (?) - if you are vomiting alot you need to replenish your system with fluids, a little at a time or you could end up puking more. Maybe Pedialite, or Gatorade could be helpful; if you feel up to it try drinking Ensure for protein. Eventually force yourself to go to a Dr. or clinic - your health is worth everything.
Best of Luck!

I have no idea if it's pertinent, I've been trying to wean down from 200mg a day, still have a long way to go, I use as directed, so the other nite, i was just 2 or 3 hours overdue and took an 80, it was all I could do to keep it down, Boy,am I learning things I didn't think I'd need to know, I'm really not a puker, but I sure wanted that thing to start disolving before I puked it up, I was not gonna recycle it if it came flying out, and I'm also on an exact count thing down at the old docs. My scrip says if you lose it, drop it accidently down the sink or your dog eats it along with your homework, they will not refill early, so when I dropped one in the sink with no stopper, it went round and round  like a cartoon, and my life flashed before my eyes, but I caught it before I had to tear the drain apart. Hang with us, we'll help!!

The nausea is standard. I didn't throw up though but have read about many that have. Seems strange it hit you within 24 hours. I too have the 40's.If you can, do a taper down with what you have left. I don't know anything about Norco or some of these other substitutes. I'm sure there will be comments following this one. And honesty? Damned if you do damned if you don't. You try to do the right thing by being honest, because thats what everyone says is the right thing to do, then on many occassion these same people will drive a hammer into your head. Know that drill all too well :)
